Overview

If you have an emergency and need extra support, you may be able to get short term care.

This may be in:

  • a rehabilitation unit where you can get hands on care available 24 hours a day
  • your home where physiotherapists and occupational therapists will provide care

Most short-term care lasts two to three weeks. But it could be up to six weeks.

We’ll work with you to see when to start reducing the support so you can take more control and return to living independently.

Paying for short term care

This may be free for a short time. Often about 2 to 3 weeks.

If you need care after this, we will work with you to see how much you’ll need to pay towards it.
