- Re-register a birth
You need to re-register a birth if you want to:
- add the father's name
- change the registration to reflect that the parents have married since the birth
For any other changes, contact us by email at registrar@royalgreenwich.gov.uk or call us on 020 8921 5015.
For new births, find out how to register a birth.
Add the father's name
If you're unmarried and would like to add the natural father's details to the birth record, you need to re-register the birth and get a new birth record.
Both parents must attend the register office for the re-registration.
If this is not possible, the absent parent needs to complete the statutory declaration of acknowledgement of parentage form.
If you've got married since the birth
You need to re-register the birth so we can create a new birth record showing the child as a child of the parents' marriage.
