All appointments will be face-to-face at the Royal Greenwich Register Office.
Your appointment should take 30 minutes.
You can bring a close friend or family member with you to the appointment for support.
During your appointment, our registrar will offer you the Tell Us Once service. This helps you to report a death to all relevant government services in one go instead of informing them individually.
If you accept, we’ll give you a reference number so that you can use the service yourself.
Our registrars will need to ask you some questions to complete the registration.
This will include questions about:
If the deceased person was married, you’ll also need to provide:
If the person who died had a Blue Badge, you can also hand this in at your appointment.
We will send a form known as a green slip to your funeral director to give permission for the body to be buried or cremated.
If you haven’t arranged a funeral director yet, we will give the green slip to you.
In some circumstances, a coroner will issue the certificate of cremation.
If you cannot make it to the appointment after it has been booked, email us at registrar@royalgreenwich.gov.uk to change it.
