Roots4Summer

The Roots4Summer camp offers cooking, gardening, sports including boxing, tennis and football, crafting and gardening. There is something for everyone!

We provide a hot lunch and a Chef’s Table with healthy snacks in the morning for breakfast with fresh fruit and vegetables all day. Based on an 8 acre site with bell tents our camp is suitable for children aged 6-12 years.

Our staff are all adults over the age of 18 and we are culturally and skill diverse. From gardeners, chefs, drummers, teachers, SEN teaching assistants, we ensure that children are happy and enjoy their time at Roots4Life.

We can help with reading and maths through our cooking and potato harvesting sessions, offer support and signposting with our weekly drop-in visits with Livewell Greenwich as well as run a weekly free Community Fridge to help with healthy food during the summer holidays.

This summer we will also for the first time be going on a trip to learn about Deptford Creek in Greenwich and enjoy the magic of the low tide!

SEND provision

Roots4Life has 4 SEND spaces which are suitable for children and young people that might have ASD or ADHD or learning difficulties and are currently in mainstream education but might have a 1:1 teaching assistant to support them. Roots4Life offers an immersive programme with 1:1 support for children and young people who wish to join in activities with the larger groups (usually 8-10 children in each group activity) but might sometimes require time out with a 1:1 adult. For example, during mealtimes, or on arrival.

Prior to being offered a SEN place, the Roots4Life Manager or Deputy Manager will call a parent or guardian to discuss needs, specialist diet and any communication preferences.

Unfortunately, these places are not suitable for children or young people in specialist education provision or with more severe learning needs. Please note if you have been offered a SEN place before and not attended, then you are likely to be placed on a wait list as there are limited SEN places on this programme.
