Well Hall Pleasaunce

Title
Well Hall Pleasaunce
Summary
Well Hall Pleasaunce is one of Greenwich's Green Flag Award-winning sites and it has achieved a silver gilt in the small park of the year category of the London in Bloom awards.

It is connected historically with the Tudor monarchs' residence at nearby Eltham Palace. Margaret More, daughter of Sir Thomas More, Lord Chancellor (who lived near Eltham Palace) married William Roper who lived at Well Hall. It also has links with the children's author E Nesbit, who lived here as a child.

The park has lots of different themed gardens such as an Italian garden, rose garden, heather garden and floral shield garden. It also has a bowling green, play area and several water features.

In 2015 a vine cutting, said to be from the oldest of that particular variety, was donated by the people of Maribor, a Slovenian town twinned with Greenwich. It was planted in a ceremony attended by dignitaries from Slovenia.

The Tudor Barn building dates back to the 16th century and is located towards the north part of the park. It is now a restaurant that caters for park users and is available to hire for private functions.
