Engineering Minds is a local social enterprise that engages over 1,000 children each year across Greenwich and London, using LEGO and Robotics to spark a lasting interest in engineering and science.

This year, with support from BH365, we are launching a new project in the Royal Borough of Greenwich that celebrates the contributions of outstanding Black African and Caribbean engineers and scientists in the UK. This initiative seeks to inspire the next generation of innovators, instilling pride in their heritage while educating the broader community about the significant roles played by Black African scientists and engineers. Our project aims to increase cultural awareness, reduce prejudice, promote mutual respect, and stimulate interest in engineering and science among children from underrepresented backgrounds.

Each month we will host interactive sessions featuring speakers and mentors from STEM fields. The workshops will highlight the remarkable contributions of Black African and Caribbean scientists and engineers who have made significant impacts in the UK and worldwide. Following these presentations, children will engage in building their own LEGO Robots that reflect the discussed fields. They will then present their robots, explaining how these creations will benefit the community.
