Who can become a Shared Lives carer

To become a carer you need to have:

  • the time and energy to spend time with and support someone to live in your home as part of your family
  • a spare double room if you’re providing long-term or respite support. This will need to meet the Shared Lives standards
  • the time and ability to arrange and offer fun and rewarding activities for someone with a disability

Ideally, you would also have some relevant experience in the care sector.
