You may be able to buy the garage you rent from us or the loft space above your flat. We may consider selling it to you, subject to certain conditions.

Garage buying conditions

We will not consider selling a garage if it forms part of a larger garage site or bank of linked garages.

If we consider selling you your garage, these conditions will apply:

  1. The sale of the garage must be approved by us.
  2. We'll ask a valuer to decide a price for the garage.
  3. When the price is agreed, the final decision on the sale will be made at the next council meeting.
  4. If the sale of the garage is agreed, a transfer of ownership will be made.

Loft buying conditions

If we consider selling you the loft area above your flat these conditions will apply:

  1. The sale of the space must be approved by your Neighbourhood Housing Office.
  2. We'll ask a valuer to decide a price for the sale.
  3. When the price is agreed, the final decision on the sale will be made at the next directors' panel meeting.
  4. If the sale is agreed, a lease will be completed.

If you want to convert the loft into a living space, you must send plans to us and apply for a licence for alterations. You'll also need to consult with the building control and planning departments.
