Council interpreting and translation services
The Royal Borough of Greenwich has streamlined its interpreting and translation service. The Royal Greenwich Interpreting Service (RGIS) now provides the whole range of services, including access to British Sign Language interpreters and advice on how to access Language Line.
We can currently provide interpretation and translation services in 102 different languages. This list is growing as we monitor the changing needs of the borough's diverse population. Our pool of registered translators and interpreters are professionally qualified and are regularly tested for competency.
Our services include:
- face to face interpreting
- written translations
- British Sign Language interpreters
- audio transcription
- advice on how to access Language Line
- telephone interpreting
- British Sign Language interpreting duty.

Available languages
We have five interpreters covering the languages:
- Albanian
- Cantonese

For other languages we use freelance interpreters who are trained to a high standard.
We can provide this service on weekdays from 7am to 7pm, and in the evenings and at weekends as requested.
