Safety and compliance improvements
We’re conducting rigorous safety and compliance checks on council homes across the borough. The checks will cover fire, electrical, asbestos, water safety, and boiler upgrades. This will help us achieve resident safety and carbon neutrality by 2030.
We’ve started upgrading and replacing boilers to make our council homes more energy efficient. We’re also inspecting and labelling all individual front entrance and communal doors across the borough.
In the 2023 to 2024 financial year, we:

appointed two asbestos removal contractors

carried out 678 Fire Risk Assessments

completed 3,545 fire safety related actions

replaced 41 water tanks in 19 blocks

completed 9,352 Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR)

replaced 921 lateral mains including communal lighting and emergency lighting upgrades

installed 357 warden call alert systems in 9 sites
In the 2022 to 2023 financial year we:
