Direct Debit
Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay your council tax, because:
- you choose which day of the month we take your payments
- your payments go out automatically
- you pay in 10 or 12 monthly instalments
- the Direct Debit Guarantee protects your payments if something goes wrong
You must pay your council tax balance by the end of the financial year every year. The financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March. You can choose to pay over 10 or 12 months.
If you owe money from previous financial years you must also pay the outstanding amount by the end of the current financial year.
We can help if you’re having problems paying your council tax.

If you do not pay your council tax by Direct Debit, you must remember to pay it each month. The amount you must pay each month is shown on your bill.
