Increased access to defibrillators can help save lives in the borough. Anyone witnessing a person suffering a cardiac arrest, should ring 999 and ask for an ambulance. The ambulance call handler will guide the person on how to perform CPR, and tell them where the nearest defibrillator is located.

The Council has sent information on the location of defibrillators located within the borough to The Circuit - the National Defibrillator Network.

The Circuit – a partnership between the British Heart Foundation; Association of Ambulance Chief Executives; Resuscitation Council UK; and St John’s Ambulance - connects defibrillators to NHS ambulance services across the UK so that in the crucial moments after a person has experienced a cardiac arrest, they can be accessed quickly to help save lives.

If you know your organisation has a defibrillator, please ensure that it is registered with The Circuit

If you or your local community would like to fundraise for a defibrillator, information is available on the websites of charities such as the Community Heartbeat Trust  and the British Heart Foundation.

Councillors may also be willing to contribute to the funding of a defibrillator through the Council’s 2022-2026 Ward Budget Scheme
