Vary a premises licence

This page is about varying a premises licence.

How a premises licence can be varied

You can vary an existing premises licence in any of the following ways:

  • amendments
  • minor variations
  • full variations.

Amendments

Use amendments for small administrative changes, for example, a change of address for the licence holder or designated premises supervisor.

Download the form to amend a name or address (Gov.UK)

Amendments cost £10.50.

Minor Variations

Use minor variations for changes to the plans or to the licensable activities, times and conditions of the premises licence, for example, a reduction in trading hours.

We recommend you contact the licensing department in advance to discuss your proposal.

There's a consultation period of 10 working days for minor variations.

You must advertise the application with a white notice at the premises. There's a template available for white notices.

Minor variations cost £89.

Read the guidance on minor variations for more information.

Full variations

Use full variations for all other changes.

There's a 28 day consultation period for full variations.

You must advertise the application with a blue notice at the premises, and in the local press. Read the guidance on advertising blue notices.
