The police have 14 days to make an objection to the application.

If the police don't object, the application will be granted. If the police do object, the application will be considered at a hearing by the Licensing Sub-Committee.

Once a licence is transferred, the new licence holder becomes responsible for the annual continuation fee. If you fail to pay this fee on time, your licence may be suspended. To avoid this, you should:

  • confirm when the next annual fee is due with the previous licence holder
  • if this is around the time the transfer is due to take place, determine who will be responsible for the fee payment and do it as part of the handover of the premises
