Corporate parenting week in Royal Greenwich
This week is corporate parenting week in Royal Greenwich - the perfect time to launch our new Corporate Parenting Partnership Strategy.
There are hundreds of children in care in Royal Greenwich and as corporate parents we want to make sure that each and every young person has the support and love they deserve, as any parent would.
That’s why we’re so proud to have published our new Corporate Parenting Partnership Strategy, to underpin our commitment to children and care.
This framework has been created with children in care and care leavers to make sure that we know exactly what they want from us.
Centred around partnership working, this strategy will make sure that every service in Royal Greenwich puts children in our care and care leavers literally on the same page when it comes to supporting our young people.
Local areas with a strong corporate parenting ethos recognise that the care system is not just about keeping children safe, but also about promoting recovery, resilience and well-being.
We want to give every young person the best start in life, to help them learn and to celebrate their achievements.
This new strategy will make sure we do that in a way that works for all.
Cllr Matt Morrow, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “Children in care face challenges unlike other young people so it is so important that we are able to offer stability and support to help them be their best.
“Our Corporate Parenting Partnership Strategy has been created with children and young people to make sure we know exactly how they feel. It’s up to us and our partners now to make sure that we provide them with the tools they need to succeed.
“Every parent wants the best for their child, and that is no different for us as corporate parents.”
If you want to support children in care you can register to be a foster carer.
