The Council is updating its website - here’s what to look out for
We’re launching a new and more reliable website to improve the Council’s relationship with residents and businesses.
The website will make it easier to find information, access services and contact us. It will also be more accessible, closing the gap for residents with accessibility issues such as visual impairments, colour blindness, dyslexia or low vision, so they too can find the information they need on Council services.
In the digital age, it’s vital that councils keep up with the pace of modern technology. While we aren’t far behind, we will phase out our old website and introduce a modern new look. This won’t affect how we work with people, especially those who still prefer to pick up the phone or send us an email.
A council spokesperson said: “We’ve all had negative experiences with websites that never seem to answer the questions you’re looking for. Our new website will make sure that our residents, visitors and businesses can get access to the information and services that they really need.
“Whether you visit us to buy a parking permit, look at local schools or find out about cost of living help through Greenwich Supports, you’ll be able to do so with ease.
“We have a vision to keep people connected, where they can quickly find, understand and access the information or help they need, using any device. Our new website is one they can trust, and which will make their lives easier.
“Having spoken directly to our communities, we know at least two thirds of residents prefer to engage with us online. As promised in the corporate plan, Our Greenwich, we want to work in the most efficient and effective ways possible.”
The first update is taking place in the coming weeks and will see the launch of our new homepage, news and events pages as well as a refreshed header and footer.
We will continue to serve residents through all other channels, offering direct support and engaging with residents or businesses who prefer to pick up the phone, visit our contact centres or send an email.
Our website address – www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk will not change.
