By-election for West Thamesmead ward to be held on 19 December

The Royal Borough of Greenwich will hold a by-election in West Thamesmead ward on Thursday 19 December 2024, following the resignation of Councillor Chris Lloyd.  

Cllr Lloyd resigns after 10 years as a councillor, initially representing Peninsula ward and more recently West Thamesmead.   

If you are a resident* of the West Thamesmead ward, you will need to be registered to vote and have a valid form of photo ID with you if you plan to vote in person.  

If you will be away on election day, please be sure to apply for a postal vote or proxy vote as soon as possible. 

• Tuesday 3 December at 11.59pm – deadline to register to vote 
• Wednesday 4 December at 5pm – deadline to apply for a postal vote 
• Wednesday 11 December at 5pm – deadline to register for a proxy vote 
• Wednesday 11 December at 5pm – deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate 

*You can vote if you are registered and are a British or qualifying EU or Commonwealth Citizen 18 or over on polling day.
