Reshuffled Cabinet for Royal Greenwich
A new cabinet has been introduced in Royal Greenwich, following approval at the Council’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday night (22 May).
Some new faces are joining a reshuffled cabinet, which is the key decision-making group that will help deliver Our Greenwich – the Council's corporate plan.
Joining the cabinet for the first time will be Cllr Rachel Taggart-Ryan, who will be the lead member for Community Safety. She will be joined by Cllr Jackie Smith, who returns to the Town Hall’s front bench to lead on Inclusive Economy, Business and Skills.
Councillors Denise Scott-McDonald and Matt Morrow will step down from their roles as cabinet members for Health and Adults’ and Children’s Services respectively.
A spokesperson for the Royal Borough of Greenwich said: “The Council would like to thank Cllrs Denise Scott-McDonald and Matt Morrow for their longstanding commitment and dedication to the cabinet. They depart having made a real difference to the lives of residents.
“The new cabinet will play a big part in helping us deliver Our Greenwich, which is our blueprint for the future.”
The Cabinet responsibilities are:
- Anthony Okereke – Leader of the Council
- Averil Lekau – Deputy Leader, also Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Sustainability and Transport
- Adel Khaireh – Cabinet Member for Children and Young People
- Aidan Smith – Cabinet Member for Planning, Estate Renewal and Development
- Ann-Marie Cousins – Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities
- Denise Hyland – Cabinet Member for Finance, Resources and Social Value
- Jackie Smith – Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Business, Skills and Greenwich Supports
- Mariam Lolavar – Cabinet Member for Health, Adult Social Care and Borough of Sanctuary
- Pat Slattery – Cabinet Member for Housing Management, Neighbourhoods and Homelessness
- Rachel Taggart-Ryan – Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Enforcement
