Roger Tester elected as new councillor for Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham

Roger Tester has been elected as the new councillor for Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham following a by-election on Thursday 13 June.

Voters went to the polls following the death of councillor John Hills, who sadly passed away on Wednesday 24 April having been a stalwart at Woolwich Town Hall for 24 years.  

Roger Tester, Conservative, was declared the winner having received 1,359 votes.  

Cllr Tester joins fellow ward members Councillor Cathy Dowse (Labour) and Councillor Matt Hartley (Conservative).  
 

Turnout for the by-election was 27.34%, with a total of 2,888 ballots cast. The full results, in alphabetical order, are:    

  • Ulysse Abbate, Liberal Democrat: 90  
  • Mark Simpson, Reform: 232  
  • Matt Stratford, Green: 101  
  • Roger Tester, Local Conservative: 1,359  
  • Nikki Thurlow, Labour: 1,101 
     

Attention will now turn to the General Election, which takes place on Thursday 4 July.  

Polls will open at 7am and close at 10pm, and you must have a valid ID to vote in person.

If you’re away on polling day you can apply to vote by proxy.
