Vote to fund your favourite community project
You now get the chance to vote for three favourite projects which you think will have the biggest impact in your community. Residents’ votes will help decide which projects should receive funding
Residents and community groups can now vote for round six of the Greenwich Neighbourhood Growth Fund. There are 43 shortlisted projects that have been suggested by residents and community groups who have bid for grants to improve Royal Greenwich neighbourhoods.
Cllr Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Council, said: “Our Greenwich, the Council’s plan for the next four years, sets out our vision to create vibrant, inclusive and healthy communities, where our residents and businesses can flourish.
To achieve this, we know we need to go beyond just listening to our communities, to making sure they feel heard. Asking residents to vote for their favourite projects highlights community priorities while providing an opportunity for us to learn what issues are important to them.”
Cllr Aidan Smith, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “The Greenwich Neighbourhood Growth Fund is a great opportunity to highlight community priorities and for residents to tell us what’s important in their area.
“We know the role community-led initiatives have in creating spaces that suit the needs of local areas and residents, and we are excited to see what projects are awarded funding this year.
Please vote for three projects you think will have the biggest impact where you live. Your vote will help decide which projects should receive funding.”
Since the Council launched the fund, it has awarded over £2million to 122 projects across the borough. This round funding is split between four neighborhood areas: Eltham and Kidbrooke; Blackheath and Greenwich; Charlton and Woolwich and Abbey Wood, Plumstead and Thamesmead.
Projects funded by the last round include:
-
replacing windows at a play centre
-
creating a sensory garden for a hospice
-
running a digital inclusion programme
-
park and playground improvements across the borough
-
a community crèche
Funding for projects comes from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which allows us to raise money from new construction development to improve community spaces and environments.
Voting closes on 3rd March 2024, with the successful groups announced in Spring 2024. To view shortlisted projects and cast your vote visit here.
