Woolwich Exchange development update - October 2024

Friday 25 October 2024

The Council has written to local businesses and site owners in Woolwich to update them on the progress of the Woolwich Exchange project and provide more advice and information on compensation eligibility under the approved Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) for the area.

The project will see the Woolwich Exchange site, located between Spray Street and Plumstead Road, redeveloped to provide new housing, commercial space, and leisure and retail facilities.

The project team are currently reviewing the scheme to ensure it meets new building safety regulations. Businesses will not need to leave their premises before 31 August 2025, and all current occupiers will be given at least six months’ notice in advance before the Council needs to take possession of the buildings.

We’re holding regular drop-in sessions at the Woolwich Front Room (105 Powis Street, Woolwich, SE18 6JB), offering local people the chance to meet our team and ask any questions they may have.

The next sessions will take place on Thursday 31 October and Thursday 28 November from 1pm to 3pm.

The Council is also asking affected businesses to complete a questionnaire to help them find suitable alternative properties. Businesses can fill out the questionnaire at royalgreenwich.gov.uk/wex-business-questionnaire
