Have a voice in local decision making

We are asking residents to share what issues matter to them most, so they can directly influence the council’s Overview and Scrutiny Work Programme for 2025 to 2026.
The Overview and Scrutiny Committee is made up of councillors whose role is to check how well the council is doing, reviewing council services and decisions, ensuring the council works in the most efficient and effective ways possible, while continuing to meet the needs of its community.
This short survey gives residents the opportunity to highlight what they think the committee should focus on in the coming year – from housing and healthcare to the local economy, public safety, and the environment.
Councillor Lauren Dingsdale Chair of Overview and Scrutiny said: “This is a real chance for residents to shape what scrutiny looks into over the next 12 months.
“We want to make sure our work aligns with the priorities of the people we serve, and that starts by listening, investigating issues, and suggesting improvements to make life better for all residents.”
The survey asks for views on key services, how well the council is performing, and which community partners the committee should be engaging with. It also seeks feedback on how often residents want to be consulted and the best ways to involve them in future scrutiny work.
Whether you care about the quality of local services, how public money is spent, or how decisions are made, this is your opportunity to make your voice heard.
The survey is open until Sunday 20 April.
