You can apply if you need to park at or near the doctors' surgery where you work.
It's free to apply, but you'll need a doctor parking space permit to use the space.
Who can apply
You must work at the surgery and the surgery must be in the borough.
How to apply
You'll need to send us an email and include:
- your name and contact details
- the surgery address
- how many medical staff work at the surgery
- how many parking spaces you'd like - how many we can install depends on how much room there is
Email: parking-design@royalgreenwich.gov.uk
What happens next
We aim to confirm receipt of your application within 10 working days. This can take longer at busy times.
We'll give you our decision in writing. This can take up to 8 weeks.
By law we must advertise any proposed changes to parking controls on public highways. We must also run a consultation about the changes for 21 days.
Installing doctor spaces will be subject to the outcome of the consultation. If we receive objections, the relevant Cabinet Member will make the final decision. This will be the Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Sustainability and Transport.
If we approve your application, we aim to plan and install the space within 6 to 9 months. If we receive objections, it can take longer. We'll provide updates on the process by email.
We try to put the space as close to your surgery as possible, but we must consider:
- if there's enough room for a new doctor space
- junctions nearby - we generally do not install spaces within 10 metres of a junction
- access to driveways and other off-street premises
- pedestrian crossings nearby
- traffic flow
- the impact on other parking restrictions or controls
- the impact on residents and businesses nearby
- the impact on road safety
