Residents and businesses can apply to suspend any type of parking bay in the borough.

It costs £62 per day for each bay. You'll also need to pay a £62 non-refundable administration fee.

You should apply 10 working days before you need the suspension.

You can ask to suspend a second parking bay if you're a resident and moving house. This is free on the first day of the suspension. You'll be charged for both bays on the second day.

How to apply

You'll need to:

  • tell us when you need the suspension
  • tell us how long you need it for
  • tell us why you need it
  • include a street plan if you're applying for a business

What happens next

We'll email you to tell you if we approve or reject your application.

If we approve it, we'll put up signs announcing the date and reason for the suspension.

Cancel a suspension request

If you need to cancel your request, you'll have to pay a 20% cancellation fee or £50, whichever is more.

You can cancel up to the day before the parking bay is due to be suspended. For example, if you asked for the bay to be suspended on 12 June, you must apply to cancel your suspension request before 11 June.
