We can usually fix a drain problem on a public street or residential road.
We investigate all reports to understand the problem and who's responsible.
Our drain sucking machines also visit every road at least once a year. They make sure the drains are clear.
We cannot help if the problem is on:
- private land
- some A roads
- a red route (Transport for London)
If the problem is on a red route, contact Transport for London (TfL).
Tell us about a drain problem
You should tell us about:
- a blocked drain
- a broken or open drain cover
- flooding
If a drain appears to be blocked after heavy rain, give some time for the water to drain away before reporting it.
You can also report it to Customer Services on 020 8854 8888, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
What happens next
If a blocked drain is likely to cause flooding, we'll clear it within 24 hours of getting a report.
If a drain cover is damaged or missing, we'll make it safe with a temporary repair within 24 hours.
Permanent repairs may take longer.
