If you live in Royal Greenwich, you can take recyclable and non-recyclable household waste to the Reuse and Recycling Centre.

To take your waste here, you must provide an original copy of a:

  • valid UK driving license
  • council tax bill dated within the last 3 months of your visit

Photocopies will not be accepted.

Items you can take to the site

You can take:

  • fridges and freezers
  • furniture and mattresses
  • large appliances like televisions, cookers or washing machines
  • car batteries

Check the full list of what you can take to the reuse and recycling centre

Items that contain Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)

It is your responsibility and duty of care to know if your waste contains POPs.

Some items that contain POPs are:

  • bean bags
  • floor and sofa cushions
  • upholstered kitchen and dining room chairs
  • office chairs
  • sofas and armchairs (including leather)
  • sofa beds
  • upholstered stools

Check if your waste contains POPs

If you have items that contain POPs, our staff will help you put these items in a special POPs Bay.

Keep POP and non-POP items separate. If they are mixed, we’ll dispose of everything as POPs. Having them disposed of would cost us more than when you keep them separated.

Items you cannot take to the centre

We do not accept business or hazardous waste. You must take business waste to a licensed waste transfer station.

Check how to get rid of business waste

Book a collection with the City of London if you have hazardous waste.
