Move in with another family through Shared Lives

If you go to live with a Shared Lives carer, you will move in with an individual carer or a carer and their family. They will support you to live independently in their home.  

You will have your own room that is clean and comfortable.  

Your carer will: 

• treat you as part of their family
• help you to take part in the community
• help you to make choices
• respect your privacy
• support you to look after your health and money
• help you to be as independent as possible 

Before you move in, you’ll meet the carer and their family, look at your new home and decide if it’s the right place for you.
