Who can arrange a memorial

You must be the grave owner (the person named on the deed as the owner of exclusive right of burial) to erect, replace or carry out any work on a memorial on the grave.

You should wait 11 months for a new grave to settle before placing a memorial on it.

Contact a specialist mason to put up the memorial - you can find a memorial mason through:

• National Association of Memorial Masons
• British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons.

The memorial mason will advise you on the different types of memorial and arrange for permission from the Royal Borough of Greenwich to carry out the work.

Remove or replace a memorial

You'll need to pay a fee if you want to remove and replace a memorial, for example to allow an extra burial in the grave plot.
