Sheltered housing for people with extra needs

You might be more suited to our extra care housing facilities if you need more support due to life changes or health problems.

Extra care sheltered housing provides care and support services 24 hours a day, every day. Staff can help with personal care, taking medications on time, preparing meals and more.

Who can apply

You can apply if you're:

  • 55 years of age or over
  • currently living in the borough
  • not a homeowner

We might also consider applications from slightly younger people if we feel like you have a support need that we can provide through extra care.

We will not accept applications from people who:

  • have dementia to the level where it might impact their ability to adapt to a new environment
  • demonstrate aggressive or abusive behaviour
  • would not benefit from living in a close community or refuse support services
  • have an active substance addiction

If you think you might need additional support, consider whether residential care might suit you.

Locations of the properties

We have three extra care schemes based at:

  • Richard Neve House, Plumstead - a Royal Greenwich development that offers one and two bed flats
  • Lakeview Court, Thamesmead - a housing association development that offers one and two bed flats
