Identify anti-social behaviour (ASB) and hate crime

Anti-social behaviour is behaviour which causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress. For example:

  • groups causing a nuisance
  • vandalism or property damage, including to communal areas
  • noise nuisance
  • harassment and verbal abuse
  • threats to an individual

A hate crime or incident is when anyone believes the victim has been targeted because of their:

  • disability
  • race or ethnic identity
  • religion or belief
  • gender or gender identity
  • sexual orientation

These characteristics are protected under the Equality Act 2010.
