Overview

You can apply to close your street to through traffic so children can play safely outside. This is called a Play Street.

It can be the whole street or part of it for up to 5 hours during the day.

You can choose when and how often it's closed, for example, every week or every month.

Residents who live there can still drive to and from their homes at 5mph.

We provide road signs and hi-visibility vests to use on the day.

A Play Street is a great opportunity to:

  • encourage outdoor activity and exercise
  • help reduce air pollution
  • bring people together and build community spirit
