Who can apply
You can get a disabled persons Freedom Pass if you get certain benefits or have certain disabilities or medical conditions.
You're eligible if you get:
- the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP), with 8 points or more for moving around or communication
- the War pensions Mobility Supplement
You're eligible if you:
- are blind or partially sighted
- are severely or profoundly deaf
- are without speech
- are registered with our Children with Learning Disabilities team (CLDT) as having a moderate to profound learning disability
- would be refused a driving licence because of your disability
You'll need to provide proof of your eligibility.
You may also be eligible if you:
- do not have arms or you have long-term loss of the use of both arms
- have substantial and long-term difficulty walking
- have epilepsy or fainting attacks
- have a severe mental health condition
- cannot read a car registration from 20.05 metres away
- have a disability that would make driving dangerous to the public
You'll need to provide proof of your condition.
