Get in touch

If you’re interested in fostering a child with us, the first step is to contact our Fostering Team by email at fostering-recruitment@royalgreenwich.gov.uk or call 0800 052 1499

We’ll answer any questions you may have about fostering and ask you about your circumstances.

If you like what you hear and meet our basic criteria, we’ll carry out a screening call to find out if you’re eligible and then arrange an initial home visit.

You can also register to attend one of our information events:

Initial home visit

At the initial visit, we’ll run through in detail what we’re looking for in a foster carer. You can ask any questions about fostering a child and the assessment process.

If we think you can become a foster carer, we’ll give you an application form to complete so we can start our checks. These include:

  • all the council areas you’ve lived in
  • your employment history
  • a full medical
  • police records (enhanced DBS)

We’ll also get personal references from your friends and family on your suitability to foster a child. These checks are a legal requirement to safeguard the children.
