Overview

If you care for a family member, partner or friend who is disabled or has a mental health condition or addiction, you may be a carer.

As a carer, you may be able to get support. This can help you continue to look after your own mental and physical wellbeing and that of the person you care for.

Support may include:

  • information and advice for carers
  • help to find local support
  • financial support like benefits
  • breaks, support groups and activities to take time to look after your own wellbeing
  • equipment, adaptations and help at home for the person you care for
  • formal support like help with daily activities after a carers assessment
