Get advanced equipment

If you need more advanced equipment to help you live independently due to an illness or disability, you will need an assessment from the council.

An occupational therapist will do an assessment to:

  • help you work to regain skills and confidence to do daily tasks
  • see what equipment and adaptations you may need and help you arrange adaptations
  • see if they can provide guidance to your carer to best support you
  • understand your strengths and what support could help you

Get care and support from the council

You do not have to pay for an assessment, but you may need to pay for equipment and adaptations.

As part of your assessment, we’ll check to see if you’re eligible for any financial support to help with these costs.

Check how much you’ll pay towards your care

You may be able to get help paying for adaptations if you're disabled with a Disabled Facilities Grant.
