Overview

You can pay your council housing charges weekly, fortnightly or monthly. You must pay in advance.

Your charges could include:

  • rent
  • service charges
  • use and occupation charges - when you must pay the landlord to live in the property, but you do not have a tenancy agreement with them
  • heating and hot water
  • garage rental

There are 5 ways to pay your council housing charges. You can pay:

  • by Direct Debit - the money automatically comes out of your bank each month
  • by bank standing order
  • online
  • by telephone
  • in person with a housing payment card

You'll need your payment reference number to set up and make most payments. You can find your reference number on your rent statement or any letters from your Income Officer.
