Pay by Direct Debit

Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay your council housing charges, because:

  • you choose which day of the month we take your payments
  • your payments go out automatically each month
  • the Direct Debit Guarantee protects your payments if something goes wrong

The date you'd like your payments to go out can be the 2, 7, 14, 22, 28 or the last working day of the month.

If there's a change to the payment amount, we'll send you a letter about the change 2 weeks in advance.

You'll need:

  • a UK bank or building society account
  • your payment reference number - this is on your rent card or rent statements

If someone else pays your council housing charges for you, you'll also need:

  • their contact details
  • to sign an authorisation form to say the person can make the payments

You'll need to call us to get the authorisation form. All tenants and the person who pays your charges must sign it. We'll then contact the person who pays your charges to set up the Direct Debit.

You'll still be responsible for making sure your housing charges are paid.
